The EpicQuestz Newsletter #32 (03/08/20)

The EpicQuestz Newsletter
Issue 32 - 03 August 2020
Editor’s Note
Heya! Sorry for the tardyness of this one, I got engulfed in the thrilling process of re-organising and categorising our wonderful Resource Packs! A grand load has happened over the past two weeks, so let’s get into it. I hope you like the thrilling header image, because here we go! It’s Resource Pack time boys and girls.
Project Progress

Setton | In Progress
Project Leaders: @LimeeFox, @raarmaarwaar

“We have finished a little apple tree lane, and are finalizing all farm fields. We just have a potato field remaining, and then we’ll add some small details. The bakery interior was finished, and a couple of terrain and road making tasks have been completed.”

Rohan Terrain | In Progress
Project Leader: @Enoshade

“(Surprise) I didn’t finish the Grimslade sector yet, though there has been more progress than there has been in a while. The area of Grimslade has received a lot of in-depth attention to improving the shapes of the mountains, and while the overall forms are laid in I still need to add detail. After that is done, I will be adding materials, trees, rocks and grass.”

Aldburg | In Progress
Project Leader: @Tobberz

"Aldburg has made remarkable progress thanks to the hard work of a number of builders. The main stretch of the pallisade is complete, the inner wall is complete, work has started on the buildings and roads of the outer bailey, and the inner bailey is also nearing completion. I would say said inner bailey is about 3/5 complete.

The plan for the near future is continue work on the outer bailey, and find a nice texture for the inner bailey’s roads."

Other Developments

Disaster! No one told me anything, so as per usual I’ll have a quick chat about the Resource Packs. At the moment I am working on a huge and epic spreadsheet to compare our 3 existing packs. After that, I’ll look into having a “base pack”, and three “addon packs”, rather than 3 completely separate packs which is very confusing and complicated. Don’t worry though - these will still be released as 3 packs.

In fact, it’s best I don’t go into it as it’ll confuse you all and you don’t need to know about it! All just behind the scenes stuff.

Oh also (I almost forgot), @Tobberz has given up his role in promotions to a new Promotions Team, headed by the Designers. You can check out their first action in the section below!!

Congratulations on @Stavrdaf on his promotion to @Artist! I’m sure he’ll make a great addition to that team of builders.

To fit with the promotion, here is new artist Stavrdaf’s plot!

A whole lot has happened, I’m very excited for what is to come soon! It looks like we might even be getting to release two maps soon (Setton and Grimslade), with Aldburg to follow on. As RP Manager I’ll do my best at my end to make the maps look as good as possible. See y’all!

**BI-WEEKLY QUIZ:** What was the name of Tolkien's incomplete sequel to LOTR?

Answer to the previous quiz:
Cate Blanchett and… well no one knows, because no one answered the quiz and @dog_lover11 didn’t tell me :frowning: But maybe someone can say!

P.S: This was stressful, thanks to @Enoshade for helping me through it, and @dog_lover11 for putting up with my uselessness <3

you not useless :c I love you, you beautiful textureman
p.s. it was a good newsletter, I appreciate you <3
p.p.s it was Figwit (you know, that random elf who is with in Arwen’s vision who says "we cannot delay), played by Bret McKenzie who got his award from The Muppets for best original song.

Epic Newsletter, and the answer to the quiz is like ‘The New Shadow’ or something similar. I was reading about it the other day.

Fun times. Tolkien’s sequel to LotR? Well I know it was based around Gondor and was basically a rehash of the Númenor story, but as for the name… The Flame of Gondor? Something about fire or ash I think.
